Many people spend the last day of the calendar year amidst song and dance festivities, consuming forbidden products and welcome the new year with intoxication. The Matha has started the tradition of clocking in the new year through a non-stop recitation of the Namokar Mantra from 31st December onwards from 9.00 a.m. for 24 hours. The devotees thus wish everyone a real happy new year.
In this manner, the Poojya Bhattarak has been instrumental in furthering the cause of religious, social, cultural, educational, literary fields, etc. through his guidance which is sure to be continued in the days to come. No wonder he has rightly been bestowed with the titles of ‘Bhattarakratna’, Shantmurti, Dharmadiwakar, Sanhitasoori, Jagadguru, Sanskruti Sanrakshak, etc. He has travelled abroad thrice to spread the word of the ancient religion. We wholeheartedly believe that all the fields will immensely benefit through the guidance and leadership of Shri Lakshmisen Bhattarak Pattacharya Mahaswamiji’
Right from the kings of the Shilahar dynasty and Chhatrapati Raje Maharaj of Maharashtra, several Rulers, political leaders and stalwarts have been in touch with this Matha.
The consecration of the 58 feet tall idol of BHagwan Gommateshwar of Shravanbelagola was conducted with the efforts and leadership of Shri Lakshmisen Bhattarak Mahaswamiji on 14th March 1887. AT that time, an amount of Rs. 30,000 was spent for the celebration which also included showering of golden and silver flowers on the pristine idol of Bhagwan Gommateshwara, silver coins worth Rs. 500 and precious stones. A detailed description of this event has been published in the ‘Harvest Field’ English journal in 1887. This tradition has been followed even today.
